About The Speaker:
Dr. Salhia earned her Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in 1998, Master of Health Science (M.H.Sc.) in 2001, and Doctorate (Ph.D.) in 2006 from the University of Toronto. Her passion for cancer research began during summer internships in brain tumor research, inspiring her to pursue graduate training as a cellular and molecular biologist at the Labatt Brain Tumor Research Center, Hospital for Sick Children. She later completed a postdoctoral fellowship in genomics and epigenomics at the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) in Phoenix, Arizona. Currently, Dr. Salhia serves as the Inaugural Interim Chair of the Department of Cancer Biology at the Keck School of Medicine and is named the Royce and Mary Trotter Chair in Cancer Research at the University of Southern California. She is also the co-leader of the Epigenetic Regulation in Cancer Program and the Inaugural Director of the Preclinical Models Shared Resource at USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center. She has served on the Keck School of Medicine Faculty Council, the Academic Senate, and has co-chaired the University Research Committee for three years. In recognition of her leadership in academic medicine, she is a fellow of the prestigious Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine
(ELAM) program.

What You Can Expect To Learn:
This will be a great opportunity to directly connect with Dr. Salhia to learn more about the progress of our current research study as well as innovations in the field of minimal residual disease research in breast cancer survivorship and recurrence risk assessment. In our third year of this research we continue to recruit and enroll breast cancer survivors and follow up with our participants annually. We are pleased to offer this open discussion in order to connect with the survivorship community and answer any questions you may have about research and/or patient advocacy and community outreach. We're very thankful for the progress that we have made and are excited to share it with our community. We are very thankful to all of our participants and want to continue to have an open door of communication as we continue to strive to help the breast cancer community.
